Science and art summer camp with excursions to top U.S. universitites

About our program

APUS proudly introduces our summer program at S.T.E.A.M Summer Camp in University of Georgia – UGA, one of the top 40 best universities in the U.S., along with many other universities in the West Coast and Southern area of the nation (Harvard University, MIT, Columbia University, Johns Hopkins, Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology) for students aged 14 – 17 years old. This is the first and only program in Viet Nam specialized for competent students who wants to study and experience life of an American students, as well as those who are going to apply for scholarships from the top 100 U.S. universities.

What makes our program different?

One of a few (probably only) summer programs focus on giving participants experiences of studying and living as a students in the U.S. Students can:

  • Receive instructions from UGA teachers to conduct STEM projects and ask for reference letter to strengthen their applications in the future.
  • Meet and update with representatives from U.S universities about admission as well as listening from current undergraduate students about application strategy and their experience studying in the U.S.
  • Experience the life of an international student in the U.S.: Travelling by bus and subway, dining at local restaurants, joining American cultural events.
  • Visit famous historical destinations and amusement parks in Boston, New York, Washington D.C, Atlanta and Athens.
  • The program is designed by APUS members in the U.S, specialized for each crew’s conditions with reasonable budget.
Schedule

Day 1

Boston
  • Participants are picked up by APUS members at the airport.
  • Visit Boston’s historical sites, enjoy extra-ordinary culinary and music performances in Quincy Market

Day 2

Boston
  • Visit Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T), the world-renowned institute in science and technology education.
  • Have lunch and meet with M.I.T students to find out about their academic environment.
  • Visit prestigious Harvard University. This is the university of many well-known presidents, businessmen and eminent individuals. With its history of development, this is regarded as the oldest universities in the U.S. and has become the dream of many students.
  • Have dinner and meet up with Harvard students.

Day 3

New York
  • Travel to New York Visit Columbia University – top 4 best university in the world. This is considered the epicenter of research and education as well as the soul of New York, the city that doesn’t sleep.
  • Have lunch and meet up with students from Columbia University.
  • Visit the Statue of Liberty and Wall Street – the largest financial center of the world.
  • Go shopping at the famous Times Square.
  • Have dinner and enjoy night life in New York city.

Day 4

New York
  • Travel to Washington D.C.
  • Visit Georgetown University – the university that always among the top 15 best universities in the U.S., popular for having trained future leaders for the national and international politic forums. Some of the famous names include former president Bill Clinton, Supreme Chief Justice Antonin Scalia, CIA officer George Tenet, King of Spain Felipe VI, etc.
  • Have lunch and meet up with students from the university.
  • Visit White House – the nerve-center of U.S. politics and Washington Monument, the icon of Washington D.C.
  • If time allows, the crew will visit the campus of Johns Hopkin University – Washington D.C. division. The university is always among the 5 best life-science and medical education providers.
  • Have dinner in Eden Market (The largest Vietnamese culinary station in D.C.)

Day 5

Washington D.C – Atlanta
  • Fly from D.C to Atlanta
  • Visit and go shopping in the bustling commercial center Lenox Square of Atlanta.
  • Having lunch at Lenox Square
  • Return to University of Georgia and start the summer education program.
  • Have dinner with its international students.

Day 6 – 10

Athens
  • During the days, students attend S.T.E.A.M classes with American students in University of Georgia – UGA. Students will have the opportunities to practice and develop their own projects relating to engineering, environmental science, 4-D, cyber security, mini-medical school, robotics programming and design.
  • In the evenings, students will participate in sport activities and team games with local students, or visit the campus and UGA research and training departments.

Day 11

Atlanta
  • Visit Emory University – one of the best research universities in the world, top 20 best U.S universities. Emory is famous for its medical and business programs
  • Visit the headquarter of CNN – the world-famous news channel and Coca Cola beverage group.
  • Having lunch, dinner and meet up with successful Vietnamese figures living and working in the U.S. during the journey.

Day 12

Atlanta
  • Participants are taken to the airport by APUS members and finish the journey.
Q&A

Who should participate in our program?

The program is suitable for students aged 14 – 17 years old, with intentions to study in the U.S in near future.

How much does our program cost?

Who will provide the visa offer letter?

Students will apply for visa with offer letter from UGA. The suggested time for visa application is during May.

Will the students joining our program travel alone or with their guardians?

This is a program that helps students become independent for studying abroad in the future so there will be no guardians. However, parents can accompany their children via paying additional fee for the unaccompanied minor service of airline companies. When the crew has arrived in the U.S., APUS members will pick up the participants at the airport and take the crew out for the trip. We will also take the responsibility of accompanying the crew back to the airport and travel back to Vietnam safely.

Will the students receive supports in preparing for visa application?

Students having any inquiries regarding visa application can contact APUS for detailed instructions about documentation and relevant procedures.
